A first order means wiring money to a supplier you have not met. Here is exactly who receives it, on what paperwork, and what happens if anything goes wrong.
Every invoice, every payment and every claim sits with one UK-registered company under English law — not with a mill in another jurisdiction.
Quotes, the line sheet, and anything about a price or a delivery date.
Specs, colour approvals, inspection reports and anything on the line.
Invoices, payment references, credit applications and VAT paperwork.
Styles, quantities, unit price, total, delivery address and delivery week — in writing, on company paper. Nothing is due until you are holding it.
The deposit buys fabric and reserves production capacity against your delivery week. Paid to the UK company account named on the invoice.
The balance falls due when the goods are packed and our auditors have signed the batch off — you get the QC report and carton photographs with the invoice, not after payment.
Take a trial order instead — fewer pieces than the minimum, charged at cost, paid in full up front. It is deliberately small enough that the downside is a bad afternoon, not a bad quarter.
Above £25,000 we will also work against an irrevocable letter of credit at sight, or a UK escrow account, at your cost.
After three orders settled on time we open 30 days net against a standard credit check, and drop the deposit on repeats.
Season programmes booked ahead can be invoiced per drop rather than per order.
Photographs and the carton number are enough to open a claim. You do not return goods before we have agreed a remedy.
| What happened | Tell us within | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Short shipment | 7 days of delivery | Missing pieces shipped at our cost, or credited |
| Fabric or make fault | 14 days of delivery | Replaced next run, or credited at the landed price |
| Colour off the approved sample | 14 days of delivery | Replaced, or discounted if you choose to keep them |
| Damage in transit | 3 days, with photographs | Claimed on our freight insurance and credited to you |
| Scattered faults under 2% of the order | With your next order | Credited on the next invoice, nothing to return |
| We miss the delivery week | We tell you first | Air freight at our cost, or cancel and take the deposit back in full |

Delivered duty paid to one address in the UK, EU or US. We are the importer of record, we clear customs, and duty and freight are already inside the unit price.
Risk passes when the cartons are signed for. Title passes when the invoice is cleared in full.
Before fabric is cut, cancel and the deposit comes back less anything already committed — we will show you the invoice for it.
After cutting, the deposit stands. If we cancel for any reason of ours, you get everything back within five working days.
Name, business, email, phone, delivery country and what you told us you sell. Nothing else, and nothing we did not ask for.
To answer your enquiry, issue the line sheet and run the order. It is never sold, never shared outside Mercewell Ltd, and never used for a marketing list you did not ask to join.
Enquiries are deleted after 24 months if nothing comes of them; order records are kept for six years as UK tax law requires. Email hello@mercewell.com to see, correct or delete what we hold.
Mercewell Ltd is the data controller. Placeholder policy for review — an ICO registration number belongs here before this page goes live.
